Starting from 1 August 2018, the Yogyakarta Immigration Office requires an additional document in the form of a Certificate of Residence for foreigners applying for an ITAS (Limited Stay Permit). The certificate of residence required for foreign students studying at UAJY is divided into 2 types. These two types have different purposes. A certificate of residence is required to apply for a new ITAS or an ITAS extension. The following is information about the Temporary Certificate of Residence.
A. Certificate of Domicile (SKD)
SKD is required for foreign students who are arranging a new ITAS. SKD is issued by the Head of the Urban Village (Lurah). Steps to obtaain SKD are as follows.
- Students meet with the Head of the RT (Neighbourhood Association) according to the student's place of residence to arrange a letter of introduction. If the Head of the RT does not have a letter of introduction form, students can download an example at the following link.
- Students bring the introduction letter to meet the the Head of the Neighbourhood Association (RW or Dukuh) or Hamlet to request validation in the form of a signature and stamp/seal.
- Students bring the letter to the Village Office according to the student's place of residence.
- The Village Office issues/certifies the SKD for students.
B. Residence Certificate (SKTT)
SKTT is required for foreign students who are applying for an ITAS extension. SKTT is issued by the Population and Civil Registry Office (Dukcapil). The procedure for obtaining SKTT.
- Students meet with the Head of the RT (Rukun Tetangga/Neighbourhood Association) according to the student's place of residence to arrange a letter of introduction. If the Head of the RT does not have a letter of introduction form, students can download an example at the following link.
- Students bring a cover letter to meet the Head of the RW or Hamlet to request validation in the form of a signature and stamp. For Bantul administration specifically, the letter must be processed up to the Kelurahan (Village Administrative) and Kecamatan (Sub-District Administrative).
- Students bring the cover letter to the Dukcapil (Population and Civil Registration Office) according to the student's place of residence.

- Dukcapil issues a SKTT for students with a processing time of 4-5 working days.
New SKTT Requirements:
- Application for the issuance of a SKTT (from the KAA)
- Letter of Guarantee and sponsorship (from the KAA) with an IDR 10,000 duty-stamp
- Photocopy of the Sponsor's ID Card
- Photocopy of passport
- Photocopy of E-KITAS
- Photocopy of Letter of Report from the Yogyakarta Regional Police (for processing in Bantul only)
- One 3x4 color photo (for processing in Bantul only)
- Change of Address Certificate from the Immigration Office (if the residential address is different from the address on ITAS).
Requirements for SKTT Renewal/Change:
1. Application for the issuance of SKTT (from KAA)
2. Letter of Guarantee and sponsorship (from KAA) with an IDR 10,000 duty stamp.
3. Photocopy of the Sponsor's ID Card
4. Photocopy of passport
5. Photocopy of E-KITAS
6. Old SKTT Card
7. Photocopy of Letter of Reporting from DIY Regional Police (especially for processing in Bantul)
8. One 3x4 color photo (for processing in Bantul only)
9. Change of Address Certificate from the Immigration Office (if the residential address is different from the address on ITAS).
Notes:
- If you change your address after having an SKTT, immediately submit the SKTT with the new address to the Civil Registry Office. Requirements for number 1-8.
